Since its opening in 1982, LIANA continues to be a unique shopping destination on the Upper West Side of New York City. LIANA is known for its personal styling service and highly curated collection and inspires women to find their inner style and beauty.
LIANA is a family and customer-directed company, first envisioned and opened by Liana Pai’s mother and aunt – Eunsook, and her sister, Hyun-sook Lee –who first opened its door and unveiled their now-iconic window, ever displaying classic looks that, like the store, never go out of style.
The Story of Our Pandemic Pivot
As we approached the temporary closure of our store, my aspiration was to offer passersby an aesthetically pleasing sight in our neighborhood. Thus, during the COVID-induced shutdown, we continuously transformed our window displays. With uncertainty looming over our return to the physical store, our concern deepened. We embarked on a mission to capture the essence of our store through photography, paving the way for an online presence.
Our dedicated team, many of whom have been with us for five to ten years, valiantly adapted to remote work during the prolonged closure from March to early July. Amidst these circumstances, I personally faced the challenges posed by my immunocompromised condition. Aware of this fact and recognizing the same among our patrons, we spared no effort in implementing stringent safety protocols. We integrated a UVC light into our HVAC system to bolster safety, always putting our customer's satisfaction above all else.
Maintaining connections, I engaged with our clientele via FaceTime, addressing their inquiries about my well-being. These endeavors led to our website development and a burgeoning presence across various social media platforms. As we journeyed through these changes, our unwavering focus remained on placing our customers at the core of every decision.
